JunctionHub website font source and reproducible build

SCOPE
This folder documents the three Nimbus-derived WOFFs distributed with the
website. It provides the exact original OTFs used by the verified
reconstruction, editable Type 1 font files and AFM metrics from the same
URW Base35 collection, a reconstruction script, notices and checksums.
It does not change the licensing of independent website material.

The font files, including the modified WOFFs, are distributed under the
GNU Affero General Public License version 3 with the upstream font
exception. See LICENSE, COPYING and COPYRIGHT.txt. The exception concerns
PostScript/PDF embedding. The fonts are supplied without warranty under
the licence. The reconstruction script is provided under AGPL-3.0-only.
The notices and licences supplied here do not prohibit uses or copying
that the applicable font licence permits.

MODIFICATIONS AND DATES
The WOFF files were converted from the Nimbus originals and subsetted to
198 mapped Unicode characters and 211 glyphs. Glyph outlines in each
WOFF match the corresponding original OTF outlines. Names, copyright
notices and version identifiers remain embedded in the WOFFs. File names
and CSS aliases are website labels, not claims to a different typeface.

The existing WOFF head.modified values record 12 October 2026:

These are recorded technical timestamps, not independent proof of the
original author or exact creation time. The files were present in the
website Git record on 12 October 2026.

This recipe was reconstructed and verified on 17 October 2026. It is not
claimed to be a historical record of the command originally used. With
the original OTFs supplied here and FontTools 4.61.1, it reproduces all
three distributed WOFFs byte-for-byte. The existing recorded timestamps
are retained solely to reproduce those existing bytes.

BUILD
Requires Python 3 and FontTools 4.61.1, a standard open-source font tool:

From this folder, install requirements in an environment you control:
python -m pip install -r requirements.txt
Then run:
python rebuild_fonts.py originals rebuilt

This writes three WOFFs into rebuilt/ and does not overwrite the website.
The Unicode set is U+0020-007E, U+00A0-00FF, U+2013, U+2014, U+2019,
U+201C, U+201D, U+2193 and U+2197. FontTools' default subset settings
retain the related glyphs and tables. The files are saved as WOFF with
normal table ordering. See rebuild_fonts.py for the complete procedure.

VERIFICATION
verified-hashes.json contains SHA-256 values for the three original OTFs
and the three existing website WOFFs, plus the recorded head.modified
values used by the reconstruction. SHA256SUMS.txt covers every included
source-package file except that checksum file itself.

Check a rebuilt file, for example:

Compare the result with woff_sha256 for editorial.woff in
verified-hashes.json. Do the same for sans.woff and editorial-italic.woff.

SOURCE ACCESS
All files in this folder may be downloaded directly through the links in
index.html. The original OTFs are the inputs used by the reconstruction.
The matching collection's Type 1 and AFM files are supplied as additional
editable font/metrics sources; they are not required by this build.
Use the local file checksums to identify the exact supplied versions;
the upstream master URLs are informational and may change over time.
